Consistency Is Key

One of the biggest challenges for the parents of my students is consistency. It’s easy to make threats or nag, but the follow through is often lacking resulting in little to zero impact. This photo represents a mom and dad who have taken the bull by the horns, and it seems to be making a difference already. I could tell the student is very much on board with this plan as well. I think it’s helpful to note that this student has some significant focus issues and attends a school with very high expectations. These parents have made a commitment to support their son by setting expectations at home, as well as communicating closely with his teachers. My favorite part is the NO XBOX DURING THE WEEK. Games and phones during the week with no restrictions are the kiss of death for pretty much all my students. If only someone could take my phone and laptop, so I could get my "homework" done.
